Twenty minutes east of Mission: an open-air stage under the oaks, a deep bourbon list, and barbecue worth the drive on its own.
From Mission it's a straight run east on Expressway 83. The stage sits outdoors behind GW's BBQ in San Juan — far enough that it counts as going out, close enough to be back before it's unreasonable.
Twenty minutes each way only pays off if you stay a while, so plan on it. This isn't a stop on the way somewhere — it's the destination.
Eat at GW's first, then move out to the garden for the set. A flight is a slow drink on purpose, and the stage runs into the night Thursday through Saturday. That's a full evening without moving your car.
