Fifteen minutes south of Edinburg: an open-air stage, a real bourbon list, and barbecue in the same lot. Thursday through Saturday nights.
From Edinburg it's a clean run down 281 into San Juan. The stage sits behind GW's BBQ, out in the open under the oaks — which is a different thing entirely from a band squeezed into the corner of a restaurant.
Edinburg empties out in shifts — campus, courthouse, hospital — and the options after tend to be the same handful of patios on the same stretch of highway.
Fifteen minutes south gets you something with a sky over it. Come for the band, stay because nobody's rushing the table, and eat barbecue that landed on Texas Monthly's Top 50 without leaving the parking lot.
The lineup shifts weekly and lives on @postoakbeergarden. If you're organizing something bigger — a birthday, an end-of-semester thing — reserve ahead, because music nights are the ones that fill.
