Most live music in McAllen happens indoors, over a PA, in a room built for volume. Post Oak puts the stage outside — under the oaks behind GW's BBQ in San Juan, a straight run east on Business 83.
The drive out beats the parking situation downtown, and the trade is a better night: you get a table instead of a spot at the rail, and the music comes to you instead of at you.
The move most McAllen regulars land on is barbecue first. Eat at GW's while the pit's still going, then move to the garden as the light drops and the band starts. One parking lot, one evening, no second stop.
Who's playing changes week to week — the current lineup goes up on @postoakbeergarden. Bigger nights fill up, so a reservation is worth it if you're bringing a group down from McAllen.
